2020 Season Off to Solid Start

Land O’ Lakes, Fla- The 2020 season of the Xtreme Bass Series is under way. The hooksets started with the St. Johns/Rodman division going out of the Palatka City Docks on Saturday, January 4th, as 25 teams battled stormy, cold front conditions. Wayne Alderman and Stanley Hunt bested the field with a 19.62 pound, 5 bass limit. They anchored their bag with the event’s big bass, a 9.35-pound Trophy Catch. Brett Bollinger and Justin Atkinson finished in second place with 16.83 pounds. Third place went to Patrick Pierce and John Mobley with 14.96 pounds.

A few hundred miles to the south, the Garcia division kickstarted their season. Scott and Kaden Funnell bested the 9 boat field with 15.83 pounds. Anchoring their winning bag was a 5.80 pound kicker that earned the event’s Big Bass honor. Rodney Glunt and John Armour finished in second place with 13.74 pounds. Ray Henderson and Charles Hatherill finished out the Top 3 with 13.61 pounds.

The new Citrus County division held their first event on Sunday, January 5th at Lake Rousseau. 23 teams turned out to compete, but it was Brian Varga and Chris Addair who bested the field. Their 5 bass limit weighed 18.26 pounds, and was anchored by a 4.96 pound kicker that earned them Big Bass honors for the event. Steve and Brandon Boggs took second place with 15.43 pounds, followed by Ricky Grant and Danny Thompson in third place with 13.91 pounds.

At the 2020 championship on Lake Kissimmee, hosted by Camp Mack, a Guy Harvey Lodge, Marina, and RV Resort, qualifying anglers will have the opportunity to compete for a new Blazer 595 Pro Elite powered by a 200 HP Mercury Pro XS valued at $40,000.00.
