Home Stretch Towards Harris

We’re now in the home stretch of the 2023 season towards the Blazer Boats Xtreme Bass Series Championship presented by Mercury Marine and Discover Lake County FL. The Harris Chain is within sight. The Garcia division has completed their 9 events, while other divisions have just a few more to go. At this point, a majority of teams are already qualified for near qualified for what it sure to be a great close to 2023. You need 7 of 9 events in one division or 8 events in a combination of all divisions to qualify for the 2023 Championship. If you’re still a few shy, there’s still plenty of time to get those qualification events in!

A few notes for this weekend’s upcoming events and a few schedule changes

John’s Lake will be a 1:00 weigh in

Istokpoga and South River will be a 2:00 weigh in

North River September event is being moved to Saturday September 30th due to schedule conflict with Puzzle Pieces of North Florida event. Many of our North River teams enjoy donating and participating in that great event on the Suwannee River!

The Suwannee River event scheduled for September 10th will be moved to September 17th due to the same event.

Championship Registration will open September 1st

Kitchens and Thilvaros Rock the River

A 22 boat field set out from Palatka Docks for the North River division’s sixth event of the season on 3rd. Lee Kitchens & Nick Thlivaros edged out the win, weighing a 5 bass limit that hit 18.97 pounds on the scale. They anchored their winning bag with an 8.56 pound TrophyCatch. Jeremy Lindsey & Jack Tennant finished in second place with an 18.31 pound, 5 bass limit. Lindsey and Tennant anchored their bag with an 8.80 pound TrophyCatch to also earn Big Bass honors.  Robbie Ratliff & Stacey Cowart took home a third place finish with a 17.56 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Robin Hodges & Frank Streeter in fourth place with 16.34 pounds, followed by Avery Romero & Dillon Drury in fifth place with 16.12 pounds.

Fisher and Nelson Top John’s Lake Field

The June 4th John’s Lake divisional event saw a 34 boat field, where Don Fisher and Brian Nelson took the top spot with a 21.58 pound, 5 bass limit. Fisher and Nelson edged out the win by .49 pounds. The longtime fishing partners anchored their bag with an 8.36 pound TrophyCatch, earning Big Bass for the event by .02 pounds. Brian Rodriguez and Billy Charland finished the day in second place with a 21.10 pound, 5 bass limit. Third place went to the team of Rusty White and Renee White with a 20.23 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Brady Lunsmann and Maverick Molina in fourth place with 20.17 pounds, anchored by an 8.34 pound TrophyCatch, followed by the team of Devin Von Dalen and Tim Von Dalen in fifth place with 19.03 pounds.

Eady and Bivins Crack 30 to Win Kissimmee Makeup Event

Don Eady and Kenny Bivins topped a 42 boat field at Lake Kissimmee during the division’s makeup event from the weather postponed February event on June 4th. Eady and Bivins caught a 30.75 pound, 5 bass limit to take home the win. John Stahl and Casey Gonzalez took the runner up spot with a 29.43 pound, 5 bass limit. Andrew Hall and Chris Ferguson finished the day in third place with a 22.11 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Jason Foss and Chandler Cornelius in fourth place with 22.04 pounds, followed by Junior Solis and Truman Patterson in fifth place with 21.79 pounds. Garrett Rocamora and Bud Cipoletti earned Big Bass honors with a 9.95 pound TrophyCatch.

Taranto and Tritschler Seal First Win of Season

Dan Taranto and Travis Tritschler topped a 17 boat field at Lake Istokpoga for the division’s 6th event of the season June 4th. Taranto and Tritschler weighed a 20.39 pound, 5 bass limit to seal the win. Eric Gaines and Troy Brown finished the day in second place with a 20.01 pound, 5 bass limit. Corky Neff and Kyle Green weighed a 17.54 pound, 5 bass limit to finish the day in third place. Rounding out the Top 5 were Jamie Stephens and Jim Stephens in fourth place with 16.76 pounds, followed by Nick Tidwell and Brooker Revel in fifth place with 16.13 pounds. Corky Neff and Kyle Green took Big Bass honors for the event with a 7.19 pound kicker.

Bishop and Cohrs Find Winners Circle 

Steve Bishop and Buddy Cohrs topped the South River division out of Lake Monroe on June 4th. Bishop and Cohrs topped a 9 boat field with a 20.28 pound, 5 bass limit. Thomas Oltorik earned a second place finish with a 16.25 pound, 5 bass limit. John Kremer and Earl Lytle finished the day in third place with 15.85 pounds. Rounding out the Top 5 were Jeff Duncan and Jerry Kremer in fourth place with 12.34 pounds, followed by Mike Sikes, Jr. and Collin Hensley in fifth place with 12.14 pounds.

Carpenter and Carpenter Top Garcia Field

The Garcia division rolled out on June 11th with a 14 boat field for their eighth event of the division. Scott Carpenter and Scottie Carpenter weighed a 20.90 pound, 5 bass limit to take home the win. George Short and Junior Solis finished the day in second place with a 19.62 pound, 5 bass limit. Third place went to the team of Mike Bell and Bobby Heirs with a 19.10 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were Mike Akers and Scott Funnell in fourth place with 18.78 pounds, followed by the team of Jesus Villegas and Roger Gonzales in fifth place with 17.68 pounds. Akers and Funnell weighed an 8.01 pound TrophyCatch to win Big Bass of the event honors.

Eady and Bivens Win Back to Back

Don Eady and Kenny Bivens went on a hot streak, topping a 31 boat field at Lake Kissimmee on June 11th, the division’s sixth event of the season.  Eady and Bivens weighed a 31.84 pound, 5 bass limit to win their second Kissimmee divisional event in as many weeks. The duo anchored their bag with an 8.34 pound TrophyCatch as they edged second place by less than half a pound. Bruce Bozman and Travis Cato were the first team to weigh on the day, setting the bar high and holding onto the lead for most of the weigh-in. Bozman and Cato weighed a 31.45 pound, 5 bass limit, anchored by an 8.09 pound TrophyCatch. Andrew Hall and Chris Ferguson had a solid day as well, finishing the day in third place. Hall and Ferguson, divisional points leaders coming into the event, extended their lead with a 29.40 pound, 5 bass limit. They anchored that bag with an 8.05 pound TrophyCatch. Rounding out the Top 5 were Chris Crow and Tyler Nekolny in fourth place with 23.87 pounds, followed by Jason Brewer and Steve Coleman in fifth place with 23.21 pounds. Clayton Walls and Travis Clark weighed the event’s Big Bass, an 8.62 pound TrophyCatch.

Wood and O’Steen Take Top Spot at Suwannee

Joey Wood and Bryson O’Steen topped a 33 boat field at the Suwannee River divisional event on June 11th. The reigning divisional points champions weighed a 13.84 pound, 5 bass limit to take home the win. Robin Shiver and Trevor Lamb finished the day in second place with a 13.39 pound, 5 bass limit. Joey Pate and Logan Pate finished in third place with a 13.02 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Jeremy Dorhn & Ed Higgs in fourth place with 12.54 pounds, followed by Corbett Bullard & Buddy May in fifth place with 11.92 pounds. Big Bass of the event went to Tracy Duckett & Jeff Taylor with an 5.59 pound kicker.

Kempton and Kicklighter Knockout Win at Orange Lake

Cory Kempton and Wynston Kicklighter bested a 45 boat field in the Orange Lake divisional event held on June 17th. Kempton and Kicklighter inked their first win of the season, weighing a 22.42 pound, 3 bass limit.

Mike Boyette and Ben Broughton finished the day in second place with an 18.93 pound, 3 bass limit. Dennis Young and Harmon Young finished in third place with an 18.59 pound, 3 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of RJ Crawford & Jody Mariott in fourth place with 17.15 pounds, followed by Allen Dyson & Stephen Dyson in fifth place with 16.26 pounds. Big Bass of the event also went to Cory Kempton & Wynston Kicklighter with an 11.92 pound Orange Lake TrophyCatch.

Schroeder and Cilladi Top Toho Field

Chad Schroeder and Anthony Cilladi topped a 17 boat field at the Toho divisional event on June 18th. The duo took home their second win of the season in fashion, weighing a 30.89 pound, 5 bass limit. Jim Folks and Jeremy Smith finished the day in second place with a 26.45 pound, 5 bass limit. Jonathan Semento and Rick Bak finished in third place with a 26.37 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Jim Topmiller & Lonnie Mead in fourth place with 20.64 pounds, followed by Joe Condy & Andrew Lee in fifth place with 20.55 pounds. Big Bass of the event also went to Chad Schroeder and Anthony Cilladi with an 8.14 pound Lake Toho TrophyCatch.

Teschendorf and Mead Take Top Spot at Tarpon

Ricky Teschendorf and Blake Mead topped a 12 boat field at Lake Tarpon for the 6th divisional event on June 24th. Teschendorf and Mead weighed a 25.50 pound, 5 bass limit, anchoring their bag with a 6.61 pound kicker to secure the win by more than a seven pound margin of victory. Lou Hartung and Chris Futrell finished the day in second place with an 18.33 pound, 5 bass limit. Richard Anthony and Gary Muchler finished in third place with an 18.22 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Richard Dunham and Steve Mui in fourth place with 16.04 pounds, followed by Brian Hart and Colby Berger in fifth place with 15.80 pounds. Big Bass of the event went to Ricky Teschendorf and Blake Mead with their 6.61 pound kicker.

Yearry and Yearry Ride to Victory Lane on Reedy

Eddie Yearry and Gary Yearry, Sr. topped a 22 boat field at Lake Reedy for the Central Florida divisional event on June 25th. The father and son duo weighed a 24.03 pound, 5 bass limit, anchoring their bag with a 6.72 pound kicker to secure the win by more than a ten pound margin of victory. Wyatt Boyd and Terry Phillips finished the day in second place with an 13.86 pound, 5 bass limit. Trever Stephens and Andrew Ready finished in third place with an 13.35 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Gary Yearry, Jr. and Aaron Phillips in fourth place with 12.80 pounds, followed by Steve Coleman and Dee Hart in fifth place with 10.60 pounds.Big Bass of the event went to Eddie Yearry and Gary Yearry, Sr. with their 6.72 pound kicker.

Addair and Varga get Win at Panasoffkee

Chris Addair and Brian Varga topped a 24 boat field at Lake Panasoffkee during the Citrus Divisional event on June 25th. Addair and Varga weighed a 22.10 pound, 5 bass limit, anchoring their bag with an 8.59 pound TrophyCatch, edging out the win by less than a pound. Scott Adams and Steve Adams finished the day in second place with a 21.29 pound, 5 bass limit. Chase Burlew and Robbie Anderson finished in third place with an 20.30 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Clint Combast and Tracey Isabella in fourth place with 18.80 pounds, followed by Hunter McPherson and Cody Halstead in fifth place with 18.49 pounds. Big Bass of the event went to Scott Adams and Steve Adams for their 9.67 pound TrophyCatch.

Berry and Kornaker Victorious at John’s Lake

Greg Berry and Jim Kornaker topped a 30 boat field at the John’s Lake divisional event on July 2nd. The team bested the crowd by weighing an 18.47 pound, 5 bass limit.

Donnie Lease and Jack Sanders finished the day in second place with an 17.47 pound, 5 bass limit. AJ Herrera and Joe Collins finished in third place with a 17.46 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Brian Rodriguez and Billy Charland in fourth place with 17.06 pounds, followed by Jonathan Siemento & Rick Bak in fifth place with 17.01 pounds.

Big Bass of the event went to Greg Berry and Jim Kornaker for their 9.31 pound lunker.

The next event for the John’s Lake division of the Xtreme Bass Series is scheduled for August 6th.

Taranto and Tritschler Go Back to Back

Dan Taranto and Travis Tritschler topped a 14 boat field at Lake Istokpoga during the Istokpoga divisional event on July 2nd. The duo won the June 4th event with 20.39 pounds and followed up with their second win in as many events by weighing a 22.27 pound, 5 bass limit, winning by more than a ten pound margin of victory.

DJ Buckholdt and James Naugle finished the day in second place with an 11.54 pound, 5 bass limit. Owen Hershberger and Wyatt Giddens finished in third place with a 10.50 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Tom McGinnis and Dave Maurice in fourth place with 8.06 pounds, followed by Jason Danes and Dell Danes in fifth place with 7.47 pounds.

Big Bass of the event went to Dan Taranto and Travis Tritschler for their 6.81 pound kicker.

The next event for the Istokpoga division is scheduled for August 6th.

Bolinger and Atkinson Win at Rodman

Brett Bolinger and Justin Atkinson topped a 19 boat field at Rodman Reservoir for the North River event held on July 8th. Bolinger and Atkinson weighed a 22.05 pound, 5 bass limit to secure the win by more than 5 pounds.

Lee Kitchens and Nick Thilveros took home a second place finish with a 16.48 pound, 5 bass limit. Andy Lawrence fished the event solo and inked a third place finish with a 15.11 pound 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were Gerald Boyd and Jason Gutierrez in fourth place with 13.86 pounds, followed by James Williams in fifth place with 13.21 pounds.

Williams also took home the honor of Big Bass of the event with an 8.28 pound Rodman TrophyCatch.

The next event for the North River division is scheduled for August 5th at Palatka.

Short and Solis Grab Win at Garcia

George Short and Junior Solis topped an 11 boat field at Lake Garcia during the final divisional event of the season on July 8th. Short and Solis weighed a 21.17 pound, 5 bass limit to secure the win.

Josh Wolf and Isidoro De La Pez finished the day in second place with a 16.06 pound, 5 bass limit. Rick Henthorne and George Margis finished in third place with a 14.24 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were Robert Wildt in fourth place with 12.31 pounds, followed by Derek Savage and Rodney Maness in fifth place with 12.30 pounds.

Big Bass of the event went to Pat Kelley and Kevin Wolfram with a 5.95 pound kicker.

Kremer and Lytle Seal Win at Monroe

John Kremer and Earl Lytle bested a 7 boat field at Lake Monroe during the Xtreme Bass Series South River event on July 9th. Kremer and Lytle weighed a 21.44 pound, 5 bass limit, anchoring their bag with a 8.10 pound TrophyCatch to secure the win.

Anthony Courtney and Sean Cunningham finished the day in second place with a 20.30 pound, 5 bass limit. Mike Sikes and Robert Webb finished in third place with a 13.05 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Steve Bishop and Buddy Cohrs in fourth place with 12.21 pounds, followed by Frank Olivia and Joe Collins in fifth place with 10.80 pounds.

Big Bass of the event went to John Kremer and Earl Lytle with their 8.10 pound kicker.

Harrelson and Johnson Knockout Win at Kissimmee

Charlie Harrelson and Grady Johnson bested a 40 boat field at Lake Kissimmee divisional event on July 9th. Harrelson and Johnson weighed a 25.42 pound, 5 bass limit to win the event.

Chad Schroeder and Anthony Cilladi finished the day in second place with a 24.71 pound, 5 bass limit. Scott Paul and David Graham finished in third place with a 22.05 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Kyle Brewer and Cheryl Brewer in fourth place with 21.05 pounds, followed by John Myers, III and Reggie Bush in fifth place with 19.53 pounds.

Big Bass of the event went to Kyle Brewer and Cheryl Brewer with their 8.81 pound TrophyCatch.

The next event for the Lake Kissimmee division is scheduled for August 13th.

Two Giants Lead Crosby and Crosby to Win at Orange

Mike Crosby and Ryan Crosby bested a 42 boat field at the Orange Lake divisional event on July 15th. Crosby and Crosby ran away with the win, weighing a 24.80 pound, 3 bass limit. Their bag consisted of fish weighing 12.15 pounds and a 11.37 pounds, respectfully, with the 12 pound class fish taking overall Big Bass honors for the event.

Kyle Moore and Bert Cyrulinski finished the day in second place with an 18.91 pound, 3 bass limit. Scott Adams and Steven Adams finished in third place with an 17.23 pound, 3 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of David Simms & Joel Simms in fourth place with 15.86 pounds, followed by Pete Roberson & Rob Roberson in fifth place with 14.27 pounds.

The next event for the Orange Lake Division is scheduled for August 19th.

Pate and Barnett Sweep at Suwannee

Jason Pate and William Barnett topped a 28 boat field at the Suwannee River divisional event on July 16th. Pate and Barnett weighed a 20.22 pound, 5 bass limit to win the event. The duo anchored their bag with a 6.20 pound kicker to also take home Big Bass honors.

Joey Wood and Bryson O’Steen finished the day in second place with an 18.55 pound, 5 bass limit. Donnie Feagle and Josh Lester finished in third place with a 15.84 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Casey Duquette and Jacob Morrison in fourth place with 15.04 pounds, followed by Jeremy Dohrn and Ed Higgs in fifth place with 13.00 pounds.

The next event for the Suwannee River Division is scheduled for August 20th.

Cooper and Hagood Master Marion

Chris Cooper and Jay Hagood topped a 23 boat field at the Central Florida divisional event at Lake Marion on July 16th. Cooper and Hagood weighed a 24.94 pound, 5 bass limit to win the event.

Matt Henderson and Larry Johnson finished the day in second place with a 17.94 pound, 5 bass limit.
Terry Tucker and Troy Tucker finished in third place with a 17.39 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Jason Brewer and Kyle Brewer in fourth place with 16.36 pounds, followed by Michael Cabaong and Clay Mock in fifth place with 14.62 pounds.

Big Bass honors went to Matt Henderson and Larry Johnson who anchored their bag with a 7.31 pound kicker.

The next event for the Central Florida division is scheduled for August 20th at Eagle Lake.

Mui and DeRosa Find Top Spot at Tarpon

Steve Mui and Anthony DeRosa topped a 7 boat field at the Lake Tarpon divisional event on July 22nd. Mui and DeRosa weighed a 14.80 pound, 5 bass limit to win the event.

Gary Muchler and Matt Smith finished the day in second place with a 13.60 pound, 5 bass limit.
Lou Hartung and Chris Futrell finished in third place with a 10.33 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Greg Swearingen and Houston Swearingen in fourth place with 10.21 pounds, followed by Robert Kirk and Richard Kirk in fifth place with 8.63 pounds.

Big Bass honors went to Gary Muchler and Matt Smith who anchored their bag with a 5.64 pound kicker.

The next event for the Lake Tarpon division is scheduled for August 19th.

Folks and Smith Smash 36+ to Win Toho

Jim Folks and Jeremy Smith topped a 24 boat field at the Lake Toho divisional event on July 23rd. Folks and Smith weighed a 36.19 pound, 5 bass limit to win the event.

Jerrod Albright and Ron Shakespeare finished the day in second place with a 22.26 pound, 5 bass limit.
Shelton Smith and Eric Andrews finished in third place with a 21.53 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Steve Coleman and Dee Hart in fourth place with 18.27 pounds, followed by Matt Dean and Adarius Taylor in fifth place with 17.37 pounds.

Big Bass honors went to Jim Folks and Jeremy Smith who anchored their bag with a 9.85 pound TrophyCatch.

The next event for the Toho division is scheduled for August 27th.

McKibbin and O’Steen Rock at Rousseau

Matthew McKibbin and Levi O’Steen topped an 18 boat field at the Citrus divisional event at Lake Rousseau on July 30th. McKibbin and O’Steen weighed a 30.65 pound, 5 bass limit to win the event.

Taylor Green and Chad Dorland finished the day in second place with a 27.48 pound, 5 bass limit.
Scott Bullard and Tracey Hurst finished in third place with a 23.71 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Brian Blake and Tim Parisi in fourth place with 23.24 pounds, followed by Bo Gallent and Dylan Webb in fifth place with 18.28 pounds.

Big Bass honors went to Scott Bullard and Tracey Hurst who anchored their bag with a 8.85 pound TrophyCatch.

The next event for the Citrus Division is scheduled for August 27th at Floral City.

The Xtreme Bass Series is the largest grassroots bass tournament trail across Florida, featuring 12 divisions and 108 events throughout the season. Anglers can compete in close-to-home events on local bodies of water, keeping costs down and affording them the opportunity to compete in the end of season championship. Teams who compete in 7 of 9 events in one division, or 8 events in a combination of divisions will qualify for the end of season championship event. The 2023 Championship will be held November 2-4 on the Harris Chain of Lakes.
