Palatka, FL- Parker Stalvey of Green Cove Springs, FL and Syler Prince of Palatka, FL may be the youngest to win the 35th Annual Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament, but they’re no strangers to knowing what it takes to win. The duo topped a 306 boat field in the 2024 main event, weighing a 27.79 pound, 5 bass limit to pocket $10,000.00.
Both Stalvey, 18, and Prince, 19, come from fishing families. Parker, the son of 2 time Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament Champ Lee Stalvey, has found success early in his young fishing career. The younger Stalvey won the 2022 Bassmaster High School Classic at Lake Keowee, then followed it up with a third place finish at the 2023 Bassmaster High School Classic at Watts Bar Lake.
Syler, the son of Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Cliff Prince, has etched his own accolades on a young fishing resume. He accomplished a feat in Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament history that, to our knowledge, no other angler has done in the 35 years of the event. Prince won the VIP and Friends event in 2022 with Bassassassin’s Robin Shiver, then followed up in 2023 by winning the Lads and Lasses event with teammate Rileigh Stout. Winning the 35th annual event gives Prince the trifecta in sequential years.
Joe Cotromano and Joey Cotromano of Yulee, FL finished the day in second place, weighing a 23.61 pound, 5 bass limit. The father-son team also boated the 2nd overall Big Bass of the event, an 8.14 pound TrophyCatch. When asked how he caught their kicker, the younger Cotromano stated, “Topwater poppin’ frog, Spro, Killergill.” The Cotromano’s took home $4,000.00 for second place and an additional $1,000.00 for 2nd Big Bass.
Terry Mullis of Ocala, FL and Miranda Crews of Charleton, GA secured a third place finish on the day. The father-daughter team weighed a 23.52 pound, 5 bass limit, anchored by the event’s 3rd Big Bass overall, an 8.11 pound TrophyCatch. Mullis and Crews took home $3,000.00 for third place and an additional $1,000.00 for 3rd Big Bass.
Rounding out the Top 5 were the teams of Jeremy Dohrn & Jason Musgrove in fourth place with 22.46 pounds, followed by Michael Hall & Tracy Duckett Pate in fifth place with 22.08 pounds.
Jeremy Dohrn & Jason Musgrove weighed the Big Bass of the event, an 9.57 pound TrophyCatch to earn $5,000.00.
